BALL CHAIR
Eero Aarnio
1963
The Ball Chair was based on the simplest geometric form – the ball. This was originally designed by Finnish furniture designer Eero Aarnio in 1963 and has become a classic icon of the industrial design era. Many of Aarnio’s designs are indicative of the pop culture movement away from the conventional and as a result establishing an iconic creation. To date, many of this artist’s work are displayed worldwide within some of the most prestigious museums.
It cannot be forgotten that this unconventional design provides the individual with a sense of privacy; as the Ball Chair tends to provide a “room within a room” atmosphere. The shape results in an acoustic barrier, which adds to one’s comfort by drowning out surrounding noise. The result being a more serene and tranquil environment unique to the Ball Chair. The swivel base, which allows the individual to rotate the chair on its own axis, makes it possible for one to either participate in surrounding activities, or relax, in essence, on one’s own.
With sufficient space for an individual, curling up with a book or magazine, or simply drowning out background noise during a telephone conversation is made so incredibly simple.
Our Replica Eero Aarnio Ball Chair is made to exacting standards; with the exterior constructed of solid fiberglass finished in gloss white, and the interior padded and covered in a soft cashmere fabric. The Ball Chair is available in two interior colours to suit your needs.
